Plus Size Designer Dresses

Finding out that Tyra Banks is considered a plus sized model made my day and gave me some added confidence in being a plus sized woman. The days of wearing plus size designer dresses designed by Omar The tent maker is history. I can now shop for plus sized designer dresses in any style or color that I like.

I can remember when a Hawaiian muumuu was the most stylish attire that anyone over a sized 12 could hope to find for any party or special occasion. Of course the muumuu came in a variety of colors and fabrics but the style was still that of a big shapeless piece of fabric connected only at the shoulders. These designers of plus size designer dresses took no pride in the style of the clothes that they offered to the over size 6 fashion community.

There was no color, fashion sense in the fitting of these garments to the line and curvature of the plus sized woman. they did not engineer clothes, they simply took a tent and sewed it together and offered it as a solution.

The clothing industry has worn blinders for many years and instead of creating clothes in the sizes that real women wear, they insisted on creating a size and demanding that real women conform to that size. Bulimia, anorexic woman were the results of the attempt of fitting into a size 2 dress. Real women are in touch with themselves and understand what makes their bodies beautiful. The plus size designer dresses are testament to the coming out party of endowed and empowered women.

I have always wanted to protest those little snippets of human flesh that prance down the runways at the fashion shows. I didn't do that because deep down I felt that I was failing myself by not exercising enough of eating too many take out foods. But my real size 14 self knew that my bones weighed more than 110 lbs and no amount of exercise or deprivation would get me into a size 2 or a size 6.

The reality of life and women sizes is that almost two-thirds of women wear a size 12 or above. How does the reality and need of these women go unmet for so many years? I do not know the answer no do I care at this point because, someone finally heard my silent protest. I can purchase figure flattering plus size clothes and feel good about it. Not only do I feel good but the fashions make me look good.

Beautiful clothes should be available for women in all shapes and sizes. There should be no discrimination in terms of the skinny girls getting to wear this but you guys on the other end of the scale can only wear these colors in unflattering shapes and styles. Those days are gone and I salute the designers of real women clothes.

And while I protest in silence, these designers may want to rename their clothes minus sizes because real women are minus the bones and sunk in cheeks of those little snippets who prance the run ways
